About this service

New Direction provides an integrated treatment system for adults who have a problem with drug and alcohol use. The service works with people at all points of their treatment journey from engagement into services to recovery. We also provide support services to family and carers whose lives are affected by another’s drug and alcohol use. The open access service offers assessment 5 days a week.

We offer a variety of treatment services including:

  • Assessment
  • Open access and Brief Interventions
  • Outreach and engagement services across Lewisham
  • Opiate substitute prescribing and detoxification
  • Keyworking
  • Counselling – on hold
  • Hospital and GP Liaison services for alcohol related problems
  • Targeted Group work (Cannabis, Alcohol, Stimulant and Drugs Recovery Groups)
  • Job clubs (with Job Centre Plus) – on hold
  • Peer support
  • Computer access and training – on hold
  • Ear acupuncture and massage – on hold
  • Family and carer support
  • Referral to detoxification and residential rehab services
  • Needle exchange
  • Hepatitis testing and immunisation
  • Street outreach services
  • Home visits
  • Assessment and referral to other agencies
  • Gender specific groups – limited face to face groups at present due to COVID 19 so we are not running gender specific groups
  • Dual diagnosis support
  • Friends and family service
  • Service user involvement group
  • Computer Training – on hold
  • NA, CA and SMART groups also work from our premises (not running due to COVID 19)
  • Offering Zoom groups
