Change Grow Live Drug and Alcohol Service – Manchester

About this service

Change Grow Live Manchester work with anyone looking to make positive changes related to drug & alcohol use. We approach treatment with an open mind, free from judgement. If your goals don't include treatment and recovery, but you do want to reduce the harmful impacts of drug & alcohol use, we can help with this too.

Change Grow Live are a national organisation, with the aim to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals and live life to its full potential. In Manchester, we offer support with harm reduction, needle exchange, housing, criminal justice, employment, education & training and homeless outreach. We have links with other services, including a smoking addiction service also under the Change Grow Live umbrella, called Be Smoke Free, and we offer a service which works specifically with young people, called Eclypse. We work with Emerging Futures and Acorn to deliver our psychosocial intervention groups and after-treatment care, and LGBT Foundation to provide specialist support related to LGBTQ+ issues for those in treatment.

Change Grow Live's teams work in partnership with service users to assess their requirements and to plan individual treatment plans and support that will help service users to address their problems and achieve their personal goals.

We provide a full range of treatment and recovery interventions for people who require services for their drug or alcohol use. We do this by providing:

  • Initial assessment to work out what support will benefit you
  • Brief interventions (including harm reduction advice and support over the phone)
  • Medically assisted treatment (MAT)
  • Support sessions with recovery coordinators and engagement workers – one-to-one and in small groups
  • Second opinions when requested by a GP
  • Community detox
  • Referral for in-patient detox
  • Links to rehab clinics
  • Peer Support groups – informal drop-ins, and structured group programmes
  • Health assessments
  • Blood-borne virus (BBV) tests and treatment - HIV, Hep B and Hep C
  • Hep B vaccinations
  • Needle Syringe Programmes (AKA needle exchange)

We also deliver free online training to professionals on topics related to drug & alcohol use, which you can find on our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/cc/adult-drug-alcohol-training-for-professionals-2132019
