WDP - Hackney Drug Interventions Programme

About this service

WDP Hackney is a recovery support service for adults who are affected by drug and alcohol problems and have had involvement with the criminal justice system.

Services offered include:

  • Drug Interventions Programme (DIP), working in partnership with the police, probation and courts
  • Assessment of people’s needs in relations to their drug and alcohol problems
  • One-to-one key working sessions
  • Counselling & psychology intervention
  • Access to group work
  • BBV screening and immunisation
  • Rapid access to opiate substitute prescribing referral to other specialist prescribing services
  • Assessment for detoxification and rehabilitation
  • Assessment for Drug Rehabilitation Requirement and Alcohol Treatment Requirement
  • Dedicated Prison Link Worker offering support prior and post release from prison
  • Extended brief interventions for alcohol users
  • Dedicated Women’s Practitioner who works with all female service users
  • Support for people with the 'dual diagnosis' of mental health and substance use problems
  • Access to housing, legal and debt advice, including support from a WDP housing practitioner
  • Referral to aftercare services, including education, training and employment support.
  • Access to mutual aid groups
  • Ongoing support to assist individuals in their recovery journey upon becoming abstinent

Referral (how to access this service)

Clients can access the service through the following routes; self referral, prison referral via CARATs, arrest referral service in Shoreditch and Stoke Newington custody suites and referred via courts as part of Restrictions on Bail.
