NORCAS 65+ Service
About this service
The NORCAS 65+ Service provides outreach support for older people living in Norfolk and Suffolk experiencing issues around alcohol, illegal substances, over the counter and prescription medication. Our team aim to reach isolated and vulnerable older people affected by the misuse and impact of substances. They work to help those aged 65+ feel less socially isolated and improve their health and wellbeing.
Older people are often affected by bereavement, loneliness, accelerated health problems, money worries and limited access to specialist services. Older people can be reluctant to seek advice and fear the stigma associated with drug and alcohol misuse. We can meet people in an anonymous location or their home if they are unable to get out. Our service works alongside relevant organisations to raise the awareness of alcohol and drug misuse in this age group and to help front line workers identify the indicators.
The service is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
