Camden Drug Interventions Programme
About this service
Camden's Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) works with people who misuse drugs and are in contact with the criminal justice system.
We engage with those people that test positive for opiates and cocaine – including crack cocaine – in police custody suites. After an assessment, we discuss with the client the most effective treatment option for their needs and support them in engaging with treatment. We will also support people in resolving a range of issues including: housing, benefits, debt and bereavement. Our teams operate in several London prisons, to support clients back into the community and drug treatment upon release.
Referral (how to access this service)
Camden DIP does not generally take self referrals. All clients who have tested positive for class A substances in custody are referred to the DIP service for the assessment process. The DIP service also works directly with prison leavers who live in Camden borough and are associated with class A substance use.
Catchment (areas they serve)
Clients must be resident in Camden or registered with a Camden GP.
