CGL - Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service - HMP Liverpool (Liverpool Prison)

About this service

DARS at HMP Liverpool is a free and confidential drug and alcohol service for adult offenders and their friends and family. Potential to change is always possible. At HMP Liverpool all offenders are made aware of the CGL DARS service, what we offer and how to access it.

DARS slots into the induction sessions that are held daily giving prisoners information on the service, various drug treatment programs on offer, referral into the community services and confidentiality arrangements. DARS welcomes referrals at any time during the offender’s sentence and we work with remands. Anyone can refer, and we welcome self referrals and family referrals.

We can look together at how to best stabilise or detox from methadone and on release we offer to make appointments for continuity of care and continuation of substitute prescribing. We work with offenders to help them reach their potential and enable them to take charge of their recovery journey.

Referral (how to access this service)

There is no open access drop-in available for this service. Offenders can put in an application to speak to a drug worker via their personal officer, or speak to any drug worker on the wing - they have purple CGL lanyards. External referrals can only be received by phone or email, not in person.
