The abstinence programme is operated by the charity Changing Lives. The service is for anyone in Northumberland, 18 years old or over, who is experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol.

Gifford House provides accommodation for 18+ for single homeless people who may have substance misuse/alcohol issues or who are in recovery. House rules are decided by the service users. Priority is given to those who have a connection to Gateshead.
