The Bridges is a residential substance misuse treatment centre for men. It was established in 2004 and is run by The Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust, a registered charity and provider of intensive, abstinence-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation programmes in UK prisons.
The Bridges is the only residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in the UK specifically designed for offenders and we have developed working practices and partnerships that are unique in this field. We have successfully treated men from all parts of the country, many with complex needs. All treatment episodes are tailored to the individual and we work collaboratively with the probation service to best deliver a structured programme of treatment with a clear pathway to rehabilitation and community re-integration.
The Bridges’ treatment programme uses evidence-based interventions, such as the 12 Step model of recovery as developed by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The programme also uses elements of Motivational Enhancement Therapy and the Seeking Safety approach. The Bridges programme also utilises a Therapeutic Communities approach which supports staff and clients to play an active role in the running of the treatment community. We encourage collective openness and sharing in order to maintain a supportive, therapeutic environment in which individuals can achieve their goals.

Smithfield is a purpose built 22 bed specialist inpatient treatment unit located in Manchester City Centre. The service provides Psychosocial Interventions alongside a range of medically managed drug and alcohol detoxifications in a clinically safe and supportive environment. All treatment programmes are flexible and tailored to individual needs and outcomes to support a person’s sustained recovery from addiction.

Grace House is a residential service for women only. The service provides drug and alcohol free support for women with substance misuse problems and complex needs, including domestic violence, offending behaviour, sexual exploitation, homelessness and eating disorders.
Grace House is open to national multi-agency referrals. Our all-female team of drug and alcohol workers provides support through one-to-ones, group work and alternative therapies while residents are responsible for the day-to-day running of the house and aid in each other’s recovery.
Residents stay for between 12 and 24 weeks, gaining more independence as their time progresses, allowing them to develop the skills needed to live independently. In the final stage of the programme, the women move into a bungalow, where each bedroom benefits from its own garden.

The National Specialist Family Service is a unique service offering residential treatment for mums and dads to address their drug and alcohol issues whilst remaining the primary carers for their children.
Children live on-site with their parents – this supports families to stay together. Parents can be single parents or couples. The service is in a rural part of Sheffield, just a short walk from local amenities and shops. Children up to the age of 10 are able to enter residential treatment with their parents and are looked after in the OFSTED registered nursery while their parents participate in treatment. The programme has three main elements: therapeutic, parenting and child development with parents working on both their own substance misuse and their parenting skills.
Remember the people at these organisations are professionally trained and must keep everything you say confidential.
