This is a list of services in your local area, along with some national agencies you can contact no matter where you live. Some of the services listed below may not be available to everyone. They might be specific to a certain age group, or require a referral from GP or health professional.
We recommend you ring ahead first, to see if it's the most suitable choice.

ARA provides support and information for anyone aged 18 or over who has concerns about their own drinking or someone else's. Offers a range of support in the form of 1-1 sessions, topic based workshops and an integrated approach for clients to make changes to their drinking.

SWADS offers a wide range of information, advice and professional support in a safe and comfortable environment or by telephone. Our service is designed for clients aged over 16 years and offers:
• Counselling
• Structured day programme
• Holistic therapies
• Aftercare support
• Art therapy
• Music projects
• Carers support
We welcome people from all backgrounds and abilities including anyone struggling with ill health, addiction, grief, displacement, unemployment, loneliness, social isolation and anxiety.

Residential or non residential abstinent programmes for drug or alcohol dependent people who are 18 years or over and want to become and remain drug or alcohol free.
Offers:
• Treatment for drug and/or alcohol dependency
• Group work and one to one counselling
• Family support
• Back to work programmes
• Accredited training courses

ADAS aims to work in partnership to support individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug misuse to enable them to make positive lasting changes which improve the quality of their lives. Provides support groups and satellite services around West Essex, call for details.

Bridging the Gap is an innovative training programme designed to help people who have experienced substance misuse related problems gain the skills needed to become work ready.
The programme has received national acclaim, winning numerous community awards and has had impressive feedback from students showing that:
• 100% plan to onto voluntary or paid work
• 100% of students felt more confident
• 100% felt more motivated
• 96% had more self respect
Bridging the Gap has a proven track record of proving a pathway into paid employment, voluntary work or further education through gaining skills and experience in the workplace via placements.
