22nd April 2013. You may have seen Clockwork Orange in the news recently - the smoking blend that is rather than the film!

So what is Clockwork Orange?
Clockwork Orange is a brand name rather than the name of a specific drug. It’s being sold as a herbal incense smoking blend and likely belongs to a family of drugs called synthetic cannabinoids.

Synthetic cannabinoids are chemicals which act a bit like cannabis and are sprayed on to plants which are then smoked. The effects - good and bad - are likely to be very similar to cannabis. Some users will feel happy and relaxed, may get the giggles, feel hunger pangs and become very talkative. Others may feel ill or paranoid.

As there are lots of different types of cannabinoids and lots of different brands it’s really hard to know what you’re actually smoking, what effect it will have on you and whether it’s legal or not.

You can find out more about synthetic cannabinoids from the FRANK A-Z entry or by calling the helpline in total confidence on 0300 123 6600.
