Due to the lack of evidence about the safety of e-cigarettes it’s not possible to recommend their use. Many people find nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) useful when they try to stop smoking; patches, gum, inhalators or lozenges as the safest source of nicotine at the moment.  NRT is available in pharmacies and supermarkets without a prescription.

For friendly and practical advice on giving up smoking call the NHS Smoking Helpline on 0800 169 0 169.
